Must you have a top sheet with a machine-washable quilt ?
I am from the UK and have grown up with duvets – I had never encountered the phenomenon of sheets and blankets and bedspreads until I visited the US. It seems a real hassle to have to make up a bed like that every morning.
I have seen some really nice patchwork quilts that are machine washable and can be dried by machine too. If I were to use one of those that I could wash weekly, would it be considered ok to just have that without sheets and coverlets or would people think that was strange ?
I use a duvet cover on my duvet that I wash weekly. With that, a top sheet is not needed, although most sheets in the states come packaged w. a fitted bottom sheet and flat top sheet. You can use just the top sheet in warm weather. I never use a bedspread on top of either because I’m lazy,andno one cares.
Just use the patchwork quilt if you like it w/o a duvet cover, although I have to say if you use a top sheet under it, you can wash the sheet weekly and the quilt will stay fresher, so you can wash it less often.
